The Early Days -
Orlando moved to London in 1993 to further his acting career, which had been inspired by watching Superman as a child! During the ensuing years he attained parts in dramas such as "Casualty" (but NOT "London's Burning") and worked with the National Youth Theatre for 2 years. His debut appearance in film came in 1997, playing the part of a rentboy in "Wilde", which (apparently) caused him to be offered several small roles in other films, which he refused, sticking to the theatre. His big break, of course, came in 1999 when he auditioned for the part of Faramir, and 6 weeks later was asked to audition again as Legolas, the part he accquired, much to his delight. And to ours! |

And so the legend began!
Orlando turned up in New Zealand 2 months before the cameras rolled to prepare for his very demanding role. During that time he perfected horse-riding, archery, swordsmanship and the martial arts. He got v. talented, I'm sure you'll agree! However, he was a bit accident-prone...he broke a rib during a horse-riding session, poor love. Oh to be the one that kissed it better! Ahem... |

And now to Legolas -
Okay, it's a tad obvious, but Orlando Bloom plays the blonde-haired, blue-eyed elf Legolas in LOTR. This meant a wig and contact lenses, so Orli reckons no-one will recognise him outside of the film. Tcha! If only he knew...anyways, he appears in the film at the Council of Elrond, and makes us all swoon, standing up for Aragorn and proving he has a pure heart. For the rest of the film he puts his bow and arrow to very good use, whilst keeping his hair pristine...not bad, considering he's 2,931! |
